Richard O’Beirne brings three decades of real-world experience in publishing, operations, product management, and innovation across commercial and not-for-profit organizations.
He has managed publishing platforms and digital transformation projects for Blackwell Science (now Wiley) and Oxford University Press and has worked with a wide variety of industry and academic bodies throughout his career. He has served on the University of Oxford CIO Innovation Fund board, the University of Oxford Research Data Management group, as a technical representative on the Crossref Technical Working Group and the JATS XML working group, and as a publisher representative for ORCID. He is a strong advocate for cross-industry collaboration and for encouraging organizations to learn from others across the information and publishing ecosystem.
As a consultant, Richard combines a strategic approach, technical proficiency, and keen awareness of competitive and market positioning. He helps clients to identify opportunities for innovation, implement operational improvements, and build high quality digital products and services. Richard holds professional certifications in publishing, project management, product management and artificial intelligence.
He is based in Ireland and works for clients in the UK and US.
