Neil is a senior strategic advisor with deep expertise in society and academic publishing, developed over more than seven years in executive leadership roles at RELX, most recently as Senior Vice President at Elsevier. In that role, he led a global portfolio of more than 750 society partnerships, working closely with boards, editors, and senior leadership teams on strategy, governance, pricing, digital transformation, and long-term sustainability. During this period, Neil grew the portfolio by over 33% through a combination of deeper society engagement and targeted acquisition.
Through his work with Clarke & Esposito, Neil advises scholarly publishers and learned societies on growth strategy, partnership models, and M&A readiness, bringing a practitioner’s perspective shaped by direct responsibility for large, complex portfolios. He is particularly experienced in supporting mission-driven organisations as they navigate structural change, leadership transition, and strategic inflection points.
Neil is also a Trustee of Resuscitation Council UK, contributing to board-level oversight of strategy, financial sustainability, risk, and regulatory responsibility, reinforcing his focus on governance, fiduciary duty, and balanced decision-making.
Neil brings a rare combination of senior operator experience in society publishing at scale, strong boardroom judgement, and hands-on insight into how value is created and realised across publishing partnerships.
